Daily update is a regular piece of news or information that’s provided every day to keep people informed about recent developments or progress. In team settings, daily updates are often a quick alternative to synchronous meetings and provide teammates with an avenue to quickly share wins and concerns.
How to use daily update
To enable your Action to provide daily updates, configure one of your Action’s intents as the triggering intent for this feature and make sure that users are interacting with this dialog in the right context. To set up a conversation that’s meaningful when users invoke this intent, ensure that you’re using the best practices for notifications in Assistant and have configured your Action to display it as an Assistant notification on Android and iOS devices (see how to create useful daily updates).
When you prompt the user to register for daily updates, be careful not to overwhelm them with repeated suggestions to subscribe. Instead, give them a chance to understand the benefit of your daily updates subscription first, and then offer to register at a convenient time.
You can also personalize daily updates by adding a registration prompt mid-conversation or providing your users with the option to schedule their Assistant notifications for a specific time of day (see how to create custom parameters that can be submitted when registering for daily updates). Finally, don’t forget to test your daily updates by invoking your Action and checking the contents of your device’s notification each day at their scheduled time.
